I thought this page might be useful in preparing to bring a new baby home from the hospital. What on earth do I pack?
You should fill your duffle bag ahead of time and leave it packed so when it's time to go then you will be ready.
John (my hubby) says -it's not a vacation...you don't need that much stuff. For the prices they are charging us for a room --isn't it a fancy hotel vacation?
things for Mom:
for your stay:
your own nightgown (maybe 2)
robe
a comfortable pair of slippers for walking the hallways
warm socks
lotion
toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, dental floss, brush, nail clippers, lip gloss
shower gel and shampoo
items to make you feel comfortable
book or magazine
craft hobby -cross-stitch, crochet, needlepoint
music to relax
focal point to use during labor
massage oil (for labor -comfort rubs)
for going home:
clean set of clothes -preferable something comfortable to wear home from the hospital.
extra underwear
sanitary pads
nursing bra and nursing pads (also nursing supplies if 1st time mom)
cosmetics
things for Dad:
for stay:
CAMERA -video camera -extra film --extra batteries
phone number list of family and friends to call from hospital
phone card so you can dial long distance from the hospital phone
written "cheat sheets" from childbirth classes
tennis ball for massaging mom's back
soda and snack foods
radio w/cassette -or- cd player to play soothing music
bible, rosary, and other prayer items
for going home:
change of clothes for trip home
deoderant, cologne
razor -shaving equipment
toothbrush
things for Baby:
Car seat for ride home
diaper bag with babies toys and clothes including:
diapers
clothes for trip home
booties
cap/hat
onsie outfit
receiving blankets
cool weather outfits --heavy blankets
formula and bottles
